"... It is important to give new opportunities for things, people, trees."
A 'concise statement that includes a choice of being, a way of making art and conduct. And 'there, between the materiality of things, in the path of impressive trees in the landscape of linear shapes, that is the poetic form of Fabio Presti.
The artist started with the issue, not one you want to be, but the body thick and solid that the author cultivated in the hands of wood, iron, fabric, marble dust take new life in his compositions. The painting, while remaining such, it takes a real thick, almost sculptural. Button on the surface, often fragmented, the work is later landscapes: trees thin and evanescent as leaves, giant towers suspended between earth and sky. In these misty landscapes, paths stains and streaks of color, appear, in the most current research phase of the artist, the people. Figures are made with only the outline, lacking the features of the face, and yet dealing with awareness, press the space around them.
It 'hard to escape the fascination with the works of Fabio Presti, works that are attributed to technical research to the future, but inwardly cultivate ties with the innermost and ancestral sense of making art.

“…è importante dare nuove possibilità alle cose, alle persone, agli alberi”.

Un’ affermazione stringata che racchiude una scelta di essere, un modo di fare e una condotta artistica. E’ lì, fra la matericità delle cose, nel tracciato suggestivo di alberi, nel panorama di figure lineari, che trova forma la poetica di Fabio Presti.

L’artista è partito dalla materia, non quella che si vuole rappresentare, ma il corpo denso e solido che l’artefice coltiva fra le mani: legno, ferro, tessuto, polvere di marmo prendono nuova vita nelle sue composizioni. La pittura, pur restando tale, assume uno spessore concreto, quasi scultoreo. Sulla superficie pulsante, spesso frammentata, dell’opera si concretizzano poi i paesaggi: alberi sottili ed evanescenti come foglie, tralicci giganti sospesi fra terra e cielo. In questi paesaggi nebbiosi, percorsi da macchie e striature di colore, compaiono, nella più attuale fase di ricerca dell’artista, le persone. Sono figure rese solo con la linea di contorno, prive dei lineamenti del volto, eppure occupano, con consapevolezza, lo spazio che preme intorno a loro.

E’ difficile sottrarsi al fascino esercitato dalle opere di Fabio Presti, opere che per ricerca tecnica si ascrivono al futuro, ma che intimamente coltivano legami con il senso più riposto e ancestrale del fare arte.
